Every week at Petworth’s Homestead Food, Elijah Jamal Balbed, a young D.C. tenor lion, seeks to mix together members of various pockets of the D.C. music scene. The house band at these Monday shows-cum-jams typically includes Mark Meadows on keys, Dante Pope on drums and beat maker/mix master Ramy Amenra El Oyoun, bringing their diverse musical backgrounds to the foreground.
