Rock Creek Jazz

Rock Creek Jazz is a quintet with a sound but not a specialty. Its eclectic repertoire encompasses Gipsy jazz, Latin jazz and Italian folk songs. The band includes the Ecuadoran guitarist Paco Galarza, the Ukranian violinist and vocalist Solomia Gorokivska, the guitarist Bob Williams, the bassist Roger St. Vincent and the Cuban conga player Roberto Dominick.

Giovanni is the founder of CapitalBop, and a music critic for the New York Times. He previously served as a contributor to the Washington Post, the FADER, JazzTimes, NPR Music and others, and hosted “On the Margin,” a books show on WPFW-FM. As head of CapitalBop, he has covered the D.C. jazz scene since 2010. (He is no longer directly involved in the presenting of CapitalBop's concerts.)
