* Thad Wilson Jazz Orchestra’s 20th Anniversary Celebration w/Russell Malone

Straight-ahead trumpeter Thad Wilson plays with bursting articulation, and a generous insistence on clarity. It’s easy to fall in love with his playing.  Twenty years ago he settled in the DMV, so he celebrates the anniversary of his arrival on the scene with a blowout bash that features some of the scene’s greatest. Wilson is joined by an orchestra featuring maestros like Brian Settles, Michael Bowie, Reginald Cyntje, and others. He’s also joined by special guests like DC Jazz elder Andrew White and guitarist Russell Malone, whose soulful, breezily swinging style and effortless command have established him as one of the best jazz guitarists around.
