If you’re a regular CapitalBop reader, you already know that we’ve planned an action-packed lineup of shows at next month’s DC Jazz Festival. We’re bringing Marc Cary, Tarbaby and Todd Marcus to D.C., and allying them with some top local talent at three amazing shows. But this is about more than just good music — the D.C. Jazz Loft Series is about promoting an idea, and making an argument. It’s part of our goal to show this whole city that jazz isn’t just a rigorous historical art form — it’s an exciting, spontaneous mode of expression that ought to be considered a critical component of the District’s contemporary arts scene, and the city’s lifestyle at large.

In order to prove it and put on this amazing series, we need some help. Please take a moment to watch the video below, and visit our Kickstarter page. There you’ll find a long list of rewards that you can reap by donating to our cause (VIP tickets to the DC Jazz Festival … signed CDs … a private lesson from Todd Marcus … and so much more).

We wouldn’t have gotten as far as we have without you devoted readers, and enthusiastic D.C. Jazz Loft patrons. Thank you for all your support. Today, we’re asking that you consider giving to our funds drive so that we can take things one step further, and reach a whole new level of audiences. If you were already thinking of coming to a D.C. Jazz Loft Series show next month, this is a better way to do it.

We’d like to thank our sponsor, Hipnotic Records, and our partial sponsor, GNT LLC, for the help they’re providing. In order to fully compensate the musicians and bring them down to D.C., we need help from you too. We’re looking forward to seeing everyone in June!
