South African piano titan Abdullah Ibrahim helped pioneer the jazz scene in his homeland. As a member of the Jazz Epistles, the first, recorded South African bebop group, along with departed trumpeter Hugh Masekela, Ibrahim brought bop to Apartheid. He plays with a fluid, lyrical post-bop style and hosts a masterclass at Howard University.
