Afrocentric avant-garde player and keeper of “Fire Music” Archie Shepp has been an icon of the creative music world since his tutlege in the early ’60s New York scene under John Coltrane and Cecil Taylor.

He leads a tribute to his mentor and long-ascended contemporary John Coltrane with an all-star cast of musicians including that prolific, imaginative pianist Jason Moran, human hurricane Nasheet Waits and fellow Philadelphian Daryl Hall.
