The U.S. Army Blues, the premiere jazz ensemble of the United States Army, performs a program of special material to mark the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing.

First, the Army Blues plays selections from (D.C.’s own) Duke Ellington’s Blues In Orbit recording before welcoming pianist and composer Allyn Johnson to perform his new suite “One Giant Leap,” which draws inspiration from the figures that made the Apollo 11 mission possible.
