Brooklyn-based creative drummer and bandleader Colin Hinton leads Simulacra, a group dedicated to exploring the potential of free improvisation in a more through-composed, Western art music setting. The group’s long-form performances have definite compositional structure, but the space behind the anchoring melodies leaves plenty of room for sonic and harmonic experimentation.
