Saxophonist Craig Alston’s tone may sound brusque and burnished at times, but can also sink into soft, luxurious melodies and solos to match the mood. He’s a strong straight-ahead bandleader that has earned the respect of scene elders like James King, Eric Kennedy and the dearly departed Larry Willis.

He leads a quintet, featuring some all-star DMV-performers like Tim Green on alto sax, Allyn Johnson on piano, Blake Meister on bass and Eric Kennedy on drums in a performance that will be broadcast from An Die Musik Live.
