Trombonist Eric Felten is one of the top jazz classicists in the Washington, D.C. area. While he’s invited modern luminaries like Donny McCaslin on his Voice of America show, Felten’s own work tends to sonically reflect the jazz canon as defined by the big band and small-combo hits of the ’40s and ’50s. He leads his big band in it’s annual holiday tradition: a complete recreation of  Duke Ellington and Billy Strayhorn’s lush, beloved arrangement of Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite. Two separate sets at 8 and 10 p.m.

NOTE 8 p.m. sets both nights are sold out.
