Multi-percussionist Fran Vielma holds an extensive knowledge of Caribbean, Venezuelan and South American musical styles. He leads several groups, including the Venezuelan Jazz Orchestra, Hidden Treasure Percussion Trio and Venezuelan Jazz Collective. The VJC’s latest album, Tendencias, is a good example of his sound: punchy post-bop wed with a variety of Latin grooves. Two separate sets at 7:30 and 9 p.m.
