* Gerald Clayton Quartet

October 16, 2019 @ 8:00 pm
Blues Alley
1073 Wisconsin Ave NW
DC 20007
$25 (Plus $5 Admission and $12 Minimum)

The 35-year-old pianist Gerald Clayton has proven to be among the most well-rounded and personable players of his generation. His Grammy-nominated 2013 release Life Forum stands apart, a delicately approached and intensely executed collection of entirely his compositions, rendered with help from three horns and two vocalists. Clayton has also released three other rhythmically morphing, open-aired efforts that pack a diligently modern virtuosity into the straight-ahead jazz tradition. Two separate sets at 8 and 10 p.m.
