There’s something like a heartbeat — a kind of narrative pulse — that is fundamental to the way Helen Sung’s fingers touch the piano that makes her playing warm and approachable. She leads a quintet at Blues Alley that feature two all-star products of the D.C. jazz scene: vocalist Christie Dashiell and bassist Ben Williams. Two separate sets at 8 and 10 p.m.
