The Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz (and famous jazz competition of the same name) was re-branded as the Herbie Hancock Institute in honor of the organization’s longtime board chairman. The now-annual Hancock Jazz Competition will be much like its previous namesake, and be one of the greatest proving grounds for young, mainstream jazz musicians.

Three finalists perform in this final round concert, which also includes a tribute performance to the great New Orleans trumpeter Terence Blanchard.
