The Capitol Hill Jazz Foundation, the home-grown, DIY institution fighting for jazz and arts policy on Capitol Hill and in D.C.’s city hall, presents the third incarnation of HillFest, a three day seminar and festival.

The first day of the Hillfest Conference will feature a morning panel led by the Washington Women in Jazz Festival on the uplift of women in jazz. The afternoon panel will focus on the importance of addressing and treating mental health issues in the highly ambitions and emotional driven entertainment industry.

The day also features a performance by the Simone Baron trio. Baron, an Italian-born, Potomac, Maryland-raised pianist and accordion player, writes original music that blurs the traditions of Western, Eastern and Mediterranean folk and art musics; with a healthy dose of post-bop exploration on the ivories.
