Washington Performing Arts Facebook Live

Imani-Grace Cooper is a celebrated vocalist in the area, equally adept at holding it down with a go-go group, singing jazz standards or belting R&B. She’s been experimenting recently with her own group, the Big Black Band, to bring more sounds from African-American music – gospel to hip-hop – under her jazz umbrella.

She teams up with bassist Pepe Gonzalez, a mainstay on the D.C. jazz scene that usually hangs in Latin and Afro-Caribbean jazz circles, for a performance live streamed by the Washington Performing Arts on their Facebook page.
