Mosche Snowden and Lady Mary (Livestream)

Trombonist Mosche Snowden knows how to ride the slide to make his horn slip and slide right into the mix of funk, jazz and Caribbean grooves played by his band; its a smooth tone, even when he’s playing more staccato bursts.

Veteran D.C. R&B singer Lady Mary comes from the Mavis Staples school of vocalists: she is not a showboat-er or a belter, but using a strong control over her mid-range to squeeze out emotional details.

The two pair for a Kennedy Center live-streamed “Couch Concert,” hosted by D.C. Legendary Musicians and Dr. Sandra Butler-Trusdale.
