Red Baraat are led by dhol player (and hype man) Sunny Jain, whose made renowned as NY jazz drummer who incorporates rhythms from around the world. Red Baraat’s main influences come from the communal energy of Indian, marching brass bands mixed with Bhangra, a punjabi popular music; but they also include a swathe of other influences, including main forms of Western jazz and DC’s own Go-Go. NPR Music dubbed them one of the best live/party bands around; it’s an accurate statement, but does not go to mention the strength of the musicianship and virtuosity that this cast of musicians bring.

Festival of Colors is their annual celebration of Holi, the Hindu Festival of Light and Color.
