Guitarist Russell Malone had to quickly learn to adapt in his early years, going from playing with iconic soul-jazz organist Jimmy Smith to the chart-topping Harry Connick Jr. and Diana Krall. His playing these days reflects all those experiences, as well as time with others like Ron Carter; as a bandleader, his interplay with his fellows onstage is tight. His tone can ring with an almost-rockabilly twang, but often flows fluidly and sweetly. Two separate sets at 8 and 10 p.m.
