Senri Oe Trio

January 27, 2020 @ 8:00 pm
Blues Alley
1073 Wisconsin Ave. NW Washington
DC 20007
$35 (Plus $12 Minimum and $5 Fees)

Japanese pianist Senri Oe took a bit of an unusual path to jazz; he gained great renown in Japan as a J-pop star of the ’80s and ’90s but left pop behind to study jazz at the New School. He plays wistful, unhurried originals that float on top of chromatic, modern jazz harmony. Two separate sets at 8 and 10 p.m.
