Charles Covington, who for 15 years taught jazz piano and organ at Howard University, is an elder statesman on the D.C. jazz scene. An improviser of high lyrical and percussive pedigree, Covington projects a savvy, blues-rooted awareness.

He leads a tribute to the great bop piano paragon Oscar Peterson with some of the other great elders of the D.C. jazz scene: Charlie Young on saxophone, James King on bass and Nasar Abadey on drums.
