Anthony Pirog is one of the most prominent experimentalists in Washington, D.C. music, a guitarist equally comfortable playing droning, cacophonous free music, slick and tight rockabilly or expansive, ethereal jazz. His own groups often organically morph between all of these modes in a way that is both spontaneous but also well-thought out.
He performs at the resplendent gallery of the Luce Foundation Center in the Smithsonian American Art Museum. The performance starts at 6 p.m. but Pirog joins staff for a talk on some of his favorites among the 3000 works on display in the center.
