As a unit, The New World, a group of young mainstays of the D.C. scene, has developed a vision of jazz it calls “fiction music.” It’s a group dedicated to long, sweeping original compositions, and has just released its debut album — despite one key member now living in Florida. The group reunites for its album release party: two separate sets at 8 and 10 p.m.
