Warren Wolf is one of the great, young masters of the mallets in modern jazz. Whether on vibraphone or marimba, using two mallets or four, Wolf’s plays lean and fast. He’s a regular on the road with Christian McBride’s Inside Straight and the SFJazz Collective touring band, but also leads his own group, the Wolfpack, a collection of top Baltimore and D.C. players, through sharp bop, standards and more brooding, electronic originals.
He is joined the great trumpeter Sean Jones, former first chair of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra and head of the Jazz program at Peabody, as well as fellow area cornerstones like bassist Jeff Reed, saxophonist Tim Green and drummer C.V. Dashiell, to present a concert broadcast from An Die Musik Live in Baltimore that aims to honors the great trumpeters of jazz.
