Home Rule Music Festival 2026 featuring Melanie Charles

CapitalBop is proud to be a presenting partner for the fifth annual Home Rule Music Festival on June 20, 2026 at the Parks at Walter Reed. CapitalBop will be presenting internationally renown, Brooklyn based flutist, vocalist and producer Melanie Charles and her powerhouse band Nikara Warren (vibraphone), Jonathan Michael (bass) and Diego Ramirez (drums). The festival will also feature performances by Joantz with Special Berries; legends Marshall Allen and the Sun Ra Arkestra as well as District mainstays Trouble Funk and the Chuck Brown Band.

The festival runs from 12 p.m. to 9 p.m. on June 20; admission is free, but VIP passes are available for an elevated listening experience. For five years, we’ve held the HR Music Festival to honor the sonic traditions and creative atmosphere that we know and love in the District. This year, we’re pleased to bring back local and national favorites from the wide-ranging spectrum of jazz and Black American Music, along with an array of local vendors, delicious food options, and outreach tables from a host of community organizations.
