Jazz in the Heights 2026

The Jazz in the Heights festival returns to Congress Heights on Sunday, May 31, with a full afternoon of music, food and fun in Ward 8. Now in its third year, the festival continues our celebration of live music, culture and community. CapitalBop is continuing our partnership with Sycamore & Oak this year by presenting an all-women showcase of Black American Musicians.

On the former campus of St. Elizabeths Hospital, Jazz in the Heights brings live improvised music to the heart of Congress Heights, celebrating the musical lineage and the live sounds that make D.C. one of the brightest spots on the musical map.

This year’s lineup includes local favorites across the spectrum of jazz and Black American Music. Lifelong Washingtonian and vocal powerhouse Akua Allrich brings her unmistakable and exhilarating blend of blues, soul and R&B. Deeply grounded in jazz and pan-African music, Allrich is known for her riveting stage presence and deep local ties. Returning after standout sets at last year’s festival are vocalist Deborah Bond and violinist Chelsey Green and the Green Project (this will be Green’s third year in a row at Sycamore & Oak). And on the decks, DJ Miss H.E.R. will be keeping the vibes going all day.

As always, Jazz in the Heights is a family-friendly community event. Tickets will be just $8.

Accompanying the music, you’ll find art exhibits and interactive activities; offerings from the community of Black-owned businesses operating out of Sycamore & Oak; and curated food and wine tastings. The festival runs from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. on May 31.

Reserve your tickets, bring out the friends and family, and join us for another unforgettable weekend of music at Sycamore & Oak.
