CapitalBop is excited to announce Marvin’s Place, our new, weekly, youth education initiative at the Riverside Center in Ward 7, in collaboration with Washington Parks and People. This weekly program will include hands-on workshops and performances with some of the D.C. area’s best artists and educators. The program will be led by artist educator Akua Allrich at the Riverside Center (5200 Foote St NE, Washington, DC 20019) every Thursday from 4:30-5:30pm starting February 5th. The program is free and open to all students in middle and high school. Education

CapitalBop’s education programs have brought live music and learning experiences to students of all ages at the Smithsonian Museum of American History, DC Public Schools and community centers around D.C. We have presented master classes in conjunction with major performances by Linda May Han Oh, Ernest Khabeer Dawkins, Jen Shyu and others.

Until the coronavirus pandemic, we brought monthly, full-band live performances from the city’s finest jazz musicians to DCPS and charter schools in association with The MusicianShip.

In 2026 we’re excited to launch our new weekly youth education program at the Riverside Center in Ward 7, as well as continuing our videography apprenticeship program at Howard University. Support our efforts by donating to CapitalBop today.
